What we do
Rescue & surrender
If you can no longer care for a reptile, bring it to us. No judgement, no questions asked. We'd far rather take it in than see it dumped.
How it worksRehoming
Once an animal is healthy we look for a suitable, experienced home. If you're thinking about adopting, talk to us first.

It started with one snake
Lilly's Reptile Rescue started with one snake. Lilly was a red-tailed boa who arrived at Scarborough SeaLIFE Centre underweight, mite-ridden and neglected. Our founder Dave nursed her back to health, and when cancer took her nine months later he made her a promise: he'd help every reptile he could. Today that promise is a rescue centre on Victoria Road that has taken in pythons, boas, corn snakes, bearded dragons, chameleons, tortoises and more.

Vet bills are the big one. A newly established non-profit doesn't have reserves, and reptile vets are specialists. Then there's heating — a room full of vivariums costs a lot to keep warm — plus food, substrate, UV bulbs and enclosures for every new arrival.
