Surrender a reptile

If you've got a snake, lizard, tortoise or any other reptile you can't keep, bring it to us. We don't ask why and we don't judge. We just want the animal safe.

First step
Give us a ring before you come, so we know to expect you.
Cost
No set charge. We ask for a voluntary donation if you're able — it goes straight into looking after the animal.
What we can't take
Venomous snakes and crocodilians. Anything else, bring it in.

Adoption & rehoming

Rescued animals are rehomed once they're healthy and we're confident the new home is right. We'll talk through the animal's needs, the setup it requires and the long-term commitment — some of these animals live for decades.

Adoption fee
£45 to £85, depending on the animal.
How it works
There's an adoption form to fill in first, and we'll arrange a home visit if we think one's needed.

Callouts

We work alongside the RSPCA and North Yorkshire Police when a reptile turns up somewhere it shouldn't — in a bin, a garden, or on one occasion wrapped round the engine of a Ford Fiesta. If you've found a loose reptile, call us.

Where we come out to
The coast from Whitby down to Bridlington, Filey included. Further afield, you're welcome to bring the animal in to us.
Charge
£10 per callout.

Education & outreach

Talks, workshops and visits for schools, youth groups and community events. We bring the animals with us, and most of the session is spent meeting them rather than listening to us.
