Come and see us on Victoria Road

A short walk from the town centre. Bring the animal, bring your questions, or just come and meet a python.

I've found a snake in my garden, house or car

Don't try to grab it. Keep pets and children away, note where it is, and call us. If you can't reach us, ring 101 and ask for the police to contact Lilly's Reptile Rescue.

Not urgent? Tell us what's going on and we'll get back to you. If an animal is in danger right now, please ring us instead.

I can't look after my reptile any more. What do I do?

Give us a ring first so we know to expect you, then bring it to us at 33 Victoria Road. No questions asked. If you can't get to us, get in touch and we'll work something out.

Do you take all reptiles?

Snakes, lizards, tortoises, turtles — anything reptilian, with two exceptions: we can't take venomous snakes or crocodilians.

Is there a charge to surrender an animal?

No set charge. We ask for a voluntary donation if you're able, because every animal that comes in needs feeding, heating and often a vet — but no one is turned away over it.

Can I adopt a snake from you?

Yes, if we're confident you've got the right setup and experience for that animal. There's an adoption form to fill in first, and we'll arrange a home visit if we think one's needed. Adoption fees run from £45 to £85 depending on the animal.

Are snakes dangerous?

The ones we deal with are non-venomous pet species. They're not aggressive and they're not slimy. You're more likely to be bitten by a dog.

Do you do school visits or parties?

We do. School visits are £60 and children's parties £55. Charity events start at £40 and other events at £180. Tell us what you have in mind — call 07733 451595.

Are you a charity?

We're a Community Interest Company — a registered not-for-profit. We're not a registered charity, so Gift Aid doesn't apply, but every penny goes to the animals.
